Our History:

Picture it. 1952. Texarkana, Texas.

We were chartered as a financial institution serving the employees and families of East Texas Motor Freight System. Over time, we have evolved into a community-focused institution serving anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Dallas and Kaufman Counties.

RelyOn’s success in the very beginning can be attributed to several people, but most important was Mr. Harold Tippie. Mr. Tippie served as RelyOn’s first CEO, and he played a critical role in growing the credit union in its early days. It was perhaps Mr. Tippie who set the tone for who we are today: he loved wearing his cowboy boots and hat to work. He ate at Dunston’s Steakhouse during his lunch breaks and took pride in knowing his fellow community residents. Being an integral part of the community was very important to him…something RelyOn still carries forward today.

We opened a branch in 2004 and have been serving the greater Kaufman community for two decades.

But that’s just our history. As we look forward, we’re looking for a place to lay down roots in Dallas. We have our sights set on RelyOn branches inside of middle schools to get financial education started early in our community’s youth. Because not only do we promise to be good stewards of your money, but we take pride in being a part of our community’s financial success. For us, both are equally important.
